ULPGC is a public university located in Las Palmas de G.C, Canary Islands, Spain. It has over 1,500 teaching staff, approximately half of whom are doctors. ULPGC provides undergraduate and graduate programmes in scientific, humanistic and technical areas. It has around 24,000 students.

The CIDIA-FEAM is a research group established and recognized by the ULPGC. In addition, the CIDIA-FEAM is associated as External Unit, to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Spain. The CIDIA-FEAM develops from the past 10 years a research line whose main objective is the development and optimization of materials and photocatalytic processes for the use of the solar photocatalytic technology for detoxification of air and water. During this period, CIDIA-FEAM has been involved in about 10 research projects funded by the regional and national government. As part of these projects the CIDIA-FEAM has published around 40 scientific papers on prestigious and high impact journals.
