The Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aachen University) is the largest German university of technology and is one of the eleven elite universities in Germany. There are 260 Departments at RWTH Aachen University, with about 30,000 students and about 10,000 staff members. RWTH Aachen University is traditionally characterised by its strength in science and engineering education.

The institutes that are participating in this project are the Department of Chemical Engineering (AVT), the Institute of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry (ITMC) and the Institute of Physical Chemistry (IPC). AVT has more than 30 years of experience in all the various aspects of membrane research. ITMC is a research institute with a strong focus on state-of-the-art materials. IPCS has expertises in nanoparticles.
