 Profile

The University of L’Aquila is a medium-size university in Italy, having more than 25.000 students and 9 Faculties. The Department of Physics is one of the biggest and oldest departments at UNIAQ. The group involved in the NATIOMEM project has worked on solid state materials since the 1970’s, studying the surface and interface properties of inorganic materials. In the last 10 years this group has intensively worked on nanomaterials, including growing and studying carbon nanotubes, polymer, metal oxide and semiconductor nanofibers, nanowires and nanoparticles. Recently they have deposited highly oriented polymers and TiO2 nanofibers using electrospinning. Different growing methods and equipments are available, including CVD, electrospinning, sol-gel, high vacuum evaporation and ovens. They also have several characterization techniques, including scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, various scanning probe microscopies, electrical characterization (I-V, C-V), optical characterization (FTIR, Vis-NIR) and Raman & micro-Raman spectroscopy (RS).
